Registration in iPhone / iPad / iPod – watch out for auto correction in the username field

We get quite a number of support reports from iOS device users that after registration and account activation it is impossible to login. The problem is that the mobile Safari will by default capitalize the first letter of your username in the registration form. Although the activation e-mail clearly shows the username entered, it is easy to miss it and try to login with the wrong username. For example: you type ‘john’, Safari changes it to ‘John’ and since usernames are case sensitive, logging in with ‘john’ will fail.

In addition to that, the web registration form is difficult to handle in small mobile devices; it is acceptable in tablets but you do have to zoom in when viewed from a phone. To face both problems we are adding in-application registration and login. We already added it in the Android mobile application and it will also be fixed in version 1.3.2 of the iOS application as soon as it gets approved by Apple.
